Plunge
A tool plunge normally describes a sequence of tool moves within the workpiece body, that allows lowering the tool from one machining level to another. Plunge moves are used in the waterline roughing and pocketing operations.
They are applied when a tool approach from outside the periphery of the workpiece is not possible. A plunge move can only be defined for operations that perform waterline stock removal (waterline roughing and pocketing operations), for all other operations there are no plunge methods available.
